Baljit Johl has a Master’s in Physical Therapy and began working in a large trauma hospital in Los Angeles, treating patients in the ICU, neonatal ICU, orthopedics, telemetry/cardiac units, medical-surgical units, transitional care unit, brain injury day treatment program, and a hospital based outpatient clinic. From there she transitioned to pediatrics, treating patients with cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, and other genetic diagnoses. A move to the San Francisco Bay area expanded her work into inpatient adult rehab, working with patients who had strokes, total joint replacements, and complex medical issues. In 2012 she moved to Portland Oregon working in a large area hospital, at the same time pursuing a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration.
“When I first started working as a physical therapist almost 20 years ago, health care was different. We were able to spend time with patients. We were able to collaborate about their care. And we were able to help patients find the cause instead of treating the symptom. Things have changed quite a bit and I realized that opening my own practice was the best course for me. It has allowed me to help patients reach goals that are meaningful to them. It has allowed me to help them find the cause of their movement dysfunction so that they can find lasting relief. I consider it an honor to help my patients find balance, ease, and resilience.”
